There are worldwide destinations we would all like to visit. For those with very deep pockets and healthy bank accounts, any destination in any part of the world may be accessible. However, most of us need to budget properly, research, and select our travel very carefully to be able to have life experiences that make us feel like a million bucks without breaking the bank.

If you're like me, you will be able to also enjoy lower scale type venues as long as they offer true value.
Cleanliness, friendly and caring staff, comfortable accommodations and great locations may be enough to allow us to have a wonderful experience. And when it comes to restaurants, it doesn't have to offer white glove service, it just has to have good, fresh, tasty food served with a smile.

There are hundreds of hotels, resorts, spas, restaurants, and entertainment venues that offer us value. Now don't get me wrong, I love four and five star resorts! ..but not every time I go on a trip am I able to afford it. I must admit, however, having been in the travel industry for so many years has enabled me to stay at beautiful four and five star Marriott and Starwood properties, as well as other brands and non-branded resorts.

Now keep this in mind, there are vacation getaways available thousands of miles away across the oceans or right in our own backyards. This might make the difference on what you spend on your hotel room. While saving on airfare or long road trips by just staying closer to home, you may be able to opt for a property that offers you added comfort and luxuries you might otherwise not be able to afford.

I personally need my away time every six to eight months, whether near or far, or whether at a mid-scale type property or at an upscale resort. I seem to start having vacation withdrawals once I hit the five to six months mark and then I need to start planning my next trip.

Below is a list of several states, provinces, countries and just great destinations you may want to consider. And if any of these are close to your hometown, then keep in mind you don't need to go far to find a great vacation spot.

So go ahead, plan your luxury vacation or your value getaway. Leave the kids with grandma, a trusted friend, or find a place with babysitting services and children's programs, but take the time off you both need so much. Life is short, live it to its fullest!
