Marriott Internationalwill be managing the 1,600 room hotel that Emirates Airline and Group is currently building on Shaikh Zayed Road, next to the city's Business Bay district in downtown Dubai
Marriott will operate the Park Towers property under its JW Marriott Marquis luxury brand. The first of the hotel's twin towers is scheduled to open in 2011, and the second in 2013.
The Park Towers will be the first JW Marriott Marquis Hotel outside of North America and only the second one in the world, after a property scheduled to open July 2010 in Miami, Florida.
While many of Dubai's hotels are suffering from lower occupancy and an oversupply of rooms, hotel operators are looking beyond the current slowdown and are betting on Dubai's recovery.
The Emirates owned Park Towers will consist of two towers of guest rooms rising from a main, six story building. It will feature 16 restaurants, four lounges, three swimming pools and a spa.
Marriott currently manages five hotels in Dubai and said it plans to add eight more in the Emirates by the end of 2011.
